1. Percent Grade to GPA
To determine grade point average (GPA), assign each completed high school course a letter grade based on the percentage grade. Assign points to the letter grade forthe grading system used by the school or college where records are to be sent.

Add upthe points for all completed courses and divide the total by the number of courses to give the student’s grade point average (GPA). Follow this example:

To find the GPA on a 3-point system, divide 9 (total points) by 5 (number of subjects): 9 ÷ 5 = 1.8 GPA; on a 4-point system, divide 14 (total points) by 5 (number of subjects): 14 ÷ 5 = 2.8 GPA. When recording the GPA ona student’s transcript, always specify whether a 3- or 4-point system was used. Because A.C.E. does not use “D” grades, the 3-point system is preferred. However, many colleges use the 4-point system. Also, an incoming transfer student will oftentimes have a “D” grade and that "D" is usually figured into any total GPA figure the school may provide for the student.
2. Letter Grade to Percent Grade Conversion (Example)
When letter grades are received from another school for a transfer student, use the "Percent Grade to GPA" chart on the preceding page to find the "Percent Grade" for each "Letter Grade" to enter into the aceconnect School Management program. Where the letter grade is a D (79 or less percentage grade), record the percentage score as a class taken, but a course that must be retaken and satisfactorily completed with at least an 80% in order to receive credit in the A.C.E. program.
Use the highest number for each "Percent Grade" for the letter grade. Using the scale from the previous page, follow this example to find correct "Percent Grade":

3. GPA to Letter Grade Conversion (Example)
A 2.5 GPA on a 3-point system would be an "A," but 2.5 GPA on a 4-point system would be a "B." For GPAs lower than 0.1, there is no letter grade on the 3-point system, but there is a "D" on a 4-point system.
